Teton Redux

Sorry it's been awhile since I've posted but I've been incredibly busy with activities that do not include being around a computer. Hopefully I will be able catch up on all the monkey business.

For the 24th of July, we skipped the usual Pioneer Day activities and headed up to Yellowstone for the second time in the summer. We were able to see and do different things from when we were there in June so it didn't feel like we were doing the same things over again. In addition to collecting water samples, we did a good job (too good a job) of collecting mosquito bites. When I die and go to the other side, one of the first questions I want to ask is, "Why? Why did you have create something with absolutely no redeeming value in the mosquito?"

At any rate, here are some pictures from our latest foray into the Yellowstone area.

These were taken on the Phelps Lake hike. It was originally owned by the Rockefeller family. They donated it to Teton National Park three or four years ago. We used to have to get permission from them to sample the lake. Now the whole family can go there.

Grampa needed me to take a picture of him sampling for research purposes. He told the kids to duck down and keep out of sight. Can you see Caleb and Max?

Another lake we sampled in the Tetons was Riddle Lake. All the kids with the exception of Rachel got leeches. Have you ever had to pull one off? Gross! There's another nasty creature that I have absolutely no fondness for.

After two days in the Tetons, we headed to Yellowstone.

You guys are always on the go! Kinda makes me want to go camping somewhere with a lake and beautiful scenery like that-it's beautiful-minus the leaches!

Much more serene than the primary room - I don't blame you for taking off! Am I lost or did you post somewhere why you were getting water samples? Sounds like a great scientific vacation, even with the purposeless creatures.
