View from our yurt. |
My sisters are weird. |
There was a lot of driving. It really wears a person out. |
Have you ever stayed in a yurt? Do you know what a yurt is? A yurt is a circular tent-like structure that originated in Mongolia. Well, I can say that I have now had the opportunity to stay in a yurt. The 1/4 mile hike from the car would normally not be a problem, even hauling all of our gear except that there were heavy thunderstorms that afternoon and the trail was very muddy and wet. The little kids didn't care for it much but they were troopers. To tell you the truth, I didn't care for it much either, but seeing that I had to be the grown up, no words of complaint issued from my lips.
Once we got there, the party began. The yurt was very well stocked and Rachel and I cooked a dinner of soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. It was quite and adventure and I was a lot more comfortable than I expected to be.
In the morning, we ate breakfast and hauled out our stuff (with the word "stuff" to also mean some of the smaller people) and met Rachel and Campbell in Grand Junction to drive back home to Utah. I rode in Rachel's car with Caleb and her kids and helped her out and enjoyed some good conversation with her. With the help of her iPad, a couple of Ninetendo ds consoles and some really fascinating talking animal crackers, the drive was just fine. Brad and the girls had a quiet drive home and were able to spread out. My Rachel loved that she was finally able to sit in the front seat for a road trip. It was a great trip, I'd do it again in a heart beat. What do you say, Sam and Rachel?

I've been following your posts about your trip and it looks amazing! How fun!
I love the picture of the girls and Caleb. I laughed and laughed when I saw it.
Love the yurt. We haven't tried staying in one yet, but maybe we will give it a go.
I'm glad you had such a great time.
