Chinese Waves Dishcloth

Chinese Waves, a sturdier, more attractive cousin to the simple garter stitch. It not only lends itself well for a dishcloth I can imagine many other possibilities for this stitch.

Materials: 1 ball 100% cotton yarn
No 7 needles

Directions:
K=Knit stitch
S= Slip stitch
Cast on 45 stitches (or any odd number of stitches)

Row 1: Knit (this is the right side)
Row 2: *K1, S1*  repeat between * across, ending K1
Row 3: K
Row 4: Knit 2, *S1, K1* Repeat between * across ending 1

Keep working in pattern until your piece is square, fininishing with wrong side row. Bind off in knitting on the right side.

Note: You can slip either knitwise or purlwise, as long as you keep the yarn behind the fabric while you are working. Slipping knitwise will make a slightly denser fabric.
