Those Funny, Funny Kids

I cleaned out a drawer today in my kitchen that I keep school papers in. It houses important notes, schedules, box tops and homework that speaks to me in one way or another. I found some really good ones that Emma and Caleb have done.

First, this is what Caleb drew for his one hundredth day of school this year They were to draw a picture what they would look like when they were a hundred years old. I specifically remember one of Rachel's when she was in third or fourth grade. She drew herself as a cute little old lady with wrinkles, gray hair and glasses. How does Caleb see himself when he's 100? Well, see for yourself:

But before he passes on, this is how he would change the world if he could:
Interesting place he has in mind for us; I hope the platypus is smart.

Here is something Emma wrote in fifth grade. I don't know if you can read it very well. Here's what it says:
Dear Mom and Dad,
School is okay I guess. It seems a lot longer than it used to. Maybe that is because it just started. I don't really want to be here most of the time. I wish recess was longer. I think early out day should get out at 12:00, because almost everyone I know has their early out day at twelve. And I like practically starve during class because we can't eat anything. So we should have like snacks so we can think harder because we aren't hungry. School shouldn't be as long. And we shouldn't have it 5 days a week. We should have school 3 days a week for 4 hours. And for lunch we should have like a food court with like a Arby's and a Jamba Juice and stuff like that.
Sincerely,
Emma

You would never guess that she is a 4.0 student and such a smarty pants the way she carries on about not liking school. I take that back, it does show she's a smart-- something. I do kind of like the idea of a Jamba Juice at school, though.

I have no idea where these kids got their snarky sense of humor.

You're right, they are funny! And I have no idea where they got their snarky sense of humor, either.
